Extraordinary Outing to Santa Barbara, California!
As much as residents love all of our in-house activity offerings, there are those that still want to get out see the world! Twice a year our community plans what we call “extraordinary outings,” that is, outings that go above and beyond visiting just local community sites. This summer, our residents chose to visit the beautiful coastal town of Santa Barbara, California. We turned it into an overnight trip, staying at The Sandman Inn located in the uptown district of Santa Barbara, and just a few miles away from the stunning Pacific coast.
A highlight from our stay included a trip to the historic La Arcada, boasting some of Santa Barbara’s top restaurants and art galleries. The tile-lined walkways, fountains, sidewalk cafes and beautiful sculptures really gave us a sense of the Spanish influence prevalent throughout the city. In addition to a trip to the local farmer’s market and some delicious dining at Cielito and Chucks of Hawaii, we were able to stop at a local ice cream shop at the request of our resident Sharon. She had read about this place in a foodie magazine and was thrilled that we were able to try some of the best ice cream in the west! Needless to say, we had a blast!
