The day was glorious and fulfilling for the residents and staff members in visiting Wilshire Boulevard Temple in Los Angeles. All attendees embraced the beauty and grandeur of the restored temple and the renewed, magnificent Dome and Warner Murals in the Sanctuary. Edna Gonzalez of the Temple staff orchestrated details of the tour in the Sanctuary, led by docent Peg Pashkow. Peg described at length the planning and details of the restoration, designed by architect Brenda Levin. She also told the story of the Warner Murals on the sanctuary walls, their creation and history. Cantor Seth Ettinger memorably dedicated in song and prayer Betty’s family’s place on the Memorial Wall. The names are lit up during Yiskor, commemorating the Yahzeits of the deceased. Attendees had the opportunity to sit and meditate in the historic edifice. A few members whose families had been members in the temple’s history since the 1950’s and before shared their stories. Luncheon, sponsored by Betty, followed in the newly opened Karsh Social Service Center. Watermark residents, staff, and families are welcome to return to the temple and the Westside Irmas campus for services and events throughout the year.
